8:31 PM - Westmore Drive, New York City "Your partner doesn't talk much, does he?" Dominick Cierzo looked back at the camera crew in the back of the car he was driving. A young, rather lanky man in flannel was pointing the camera straight at the man in the passenger seat, who was dressed in a stunning amount of clothing, including a trenchcoat and wide brimmed hat. It was stunning mostly because it was mid-summer, and about ninty degrees out. "He takes a lot more when he's awake. Hey, Jonah, wake up, man!" Dominick said, moving one of his burly arms off of the wheel to shake Jonah. "Ahh... shit, Dominick. Has anything happened?" Jonah groaned, rousing from his nap. "Nah, not yet. C'mon, you can't leave me to do all the talkin', can ya?" Dominick said, indicating back to the camera crew. Jonah looked back at the crew. The lanky kid had apparently found something better to film, while the other, a man in a suit, was looking out the window, apparently bored. This revere continued for a few moments, before the car radio started to blare. "Car 84, come in!" the female voiced intoned urgently. Jonah grunted, then leaned over and took the transmitter off its hook. "Car 84 reporting in, Officer Vandohl here." "Respond to Car 56's request for back-up, they have Carathix trapped in an old mine shaft 15 miles from your current position." the voice calmly said. "Will do, HQ. Over and out." Jonah slumped back into the seat. "You heard the lady, Dominick." Dominick grinned in reponse as he switched on the sirens, and turned abruptly, shooting down the street, and narrowly avoiding slower moving vehicles. "C'mon, shake it off, Jonah, it's show time!" Jonah shook his head a bit. That was the last time he was finishing off a bottle of Jack Daniels by himself. "Yeah, I guess these boys are going to get something to tape after all." -------- 8:59 PM, Abandoned Mine Shaft At the mouth of the mine shaft, roughly six police cars and two vans had swarmed in, with people rushing inbetween each, communicating orders and information. A short woman with sandy blonde hair, dressed in a rather long blue coat was closest to the cave, weaving her hands in an odd manner. Abruptly, she stopped, and a translucent cover appeared over the cave entrance. A Barrier spell. "... so, after that incident, we've been after this guy for a while." Dominick explained to the camera, gesturing vaguely to the cave entrance. "Jonah even got a look at the bastard, ain't that right?" The camera pointed over at Jonah, who was leaning against the car, cleaning out a rather odd looking gun with a rune on the barrel. "Yeah, he actually looked sorta normal for being a freak-ass Class 2 mage." The woman in the blue coat strided over to where Jonah and Dominick were. "He's all yours from here. Be careful in there, alright?" Dominick grinned, pulling out what seemed to be a plain, three foot long metal pole. "Hey, I'll be alright. Don't know 'bout Jonah, though, he still seems a little woozy." The woman looked over at Jonah. "Drinking again, hm?" She then sighed. "Jonah, you'll change, will you?" Jonah looked over at the woman, a bit more depressed. "Listen, Marie..." "Officer Cierzo, Officer Vandohl, get your asses in gear! We're goin' in in a few minutes!" a man, dressed in what seemed to be... a bodysuit, with metallic sheets floating over it, shaped vaguely like armor, yelled over to Dominick and Jonah. Dominick started to walk over, waving for the camera crew, while Jonah loaded a single bullet into the back of the gun, took a backwards glance at the woman, then walked away to join the others. The man in armor spoke again. "Alright, we'll split into four groups of two. Conner and Verseki, Goldern and O'Donnell, Cierzo and Vandohl, and me and Forbes. Alright, sweep out, and at the first sign of anything suspicious, be sure to radio.... or telepathy, if ya got it. Alright, move out!" The group started to slowly disperse, with the camera crew following closely behind Dominick and Jonah. -------- 9:12 PM, Abandoned Mine Shaft "... as it falls on 9:12, the police still fail to find anything of note." the man in the suit intoned to the camera. Jonah and Dominick were a little ways ahead, brushing some ichor off from the chimera they had just killed. Dominick's metal rod was now a pike, but slowly shifted back into a being a rod. Jonah loaded another bullet into his gun. "Christ, nothing of note? That was the fugliest chimera I've ever seen in a while." "I dunno, remember that thing when we were doing a that drug bust down in the southside?" Dominick quipped, as the rod morphed slowly into a two-handed sword. "Yeah, but that went down easy. One 02 was all it took." Jonah looked back at the camera crew. "C'mon, get movin'." The camera crew hastily started to bridge the gap between them and the officers, when suddenly the tunnel started to shake. On either side of the wall, a large rune started to glow a light blue. "The fuck--A *Gylph*??" Jonah exclaimed. "This guy's only supposed to be a Transmu--" The conversation was brought to a hasty conclusion by the entire tunnel filling with the bright light, and when it finally died down, everyone was gone. -------- 12:06 AM, ???? Jonah stirred, groaning. Eventually, he managed to pick himself up, his eyes adjusting to the relative dark. Well, he wasn't dead, so that was a plus. Evidently, it had just teleported him to another part of the mine. Jonah spat. Why the hell did mages have to pull stupid tricky shit like this? Mulling over his options, Jonah tried to switch on his radio, only to get static. "Damn, must be too deep in." Seeing now other alternative, he kept his gun at the ready, and started to shamble down the tunnel.
